CAMERAS - VINTAGE

The world of antique, vintage and classic camera collections. Collecting cameras is a very wide domain. Many old cameras are still capable of producing lovely images. The first successful picture was produced in June/July 1827 by Niépce. On 4 January 1829 Niépce agreed to go into partnership with Louis Daguerre. The French government bought the rights in July 1839. Details of the process were made public on 19 August 1839, and Daguerre named it the Daguerreotype. The rest, as they say, is history.

Though Fox Talbot was not the first to produce photographs, he made a major contribution to the photographic process as we know it today. George Eastman is particularly remembered for introducing flexible film in 1884. The Magic Lantern was the forerunner of the modern slide projector. Cameras evolved from plates to film and now to digital.
